Celebrating Leadership in driving innovation

YB Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili has achieved much by inspiring those who work with him to understand the concept of innovation, how it applies in every segment of life and to seek out the innovative attempts of Malaysians, even in the remote heartland of this country. He knows innovation is pervasive and he is proving it to all and sundry through the efforts of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and its agencies.

"There is no greater pleasure for me than to be given the honours to be part of an institution whose task is to mould our future generation, where the seeds of creativity are sown and buds of innovation will be allowed to develop and grow. Innovation in itself is not meaningful if it remains in a showcase. It is not the creation of innovation that should be our trophy but the real victory will come when our innovation makes a difference in the life of others. For this we should not only look at the outcome in economic gain but we should also celebrate those creative innovations that effect simple positive changes in our society."

On the 17^th of December 2011, the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology celebrated the transformational leadership of YB Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili by conferring upon him the Honorary Doctorate of Leadership in Innovation. The award pays tribute to the efforts of Datuk Seri Panglima in his capacity as the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation in driving the national innovation agenda forward through the cultivation of an innovation culture in the Malaysian way of life with the aim of migrating the national economy to innovation-led high-income status.
