Limkokwing University students from the Faculty of Information Communication and Technology held their major project presentation on 7 November.
The students, from the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Electronic Commerce programme, are required to present their individual effort to highlight their capabilities in planning and developing a full project. They were expected to plan and work within a stringent schedule, conduct extensive research and apply or resolve any issue pertaining to their projects as raised by industry experts.
Five best students’ works were selected for the presentation and featured a range of industry related areas, namely in technical support applications, design and production of multimedia systems for electronic trading, design and implementation of electronic networks, cloud computing and android programming.
One eye catching major project was by Ali Chegini titled ‘Artificial Intelligence in the Financial Market’. The system was devised to predict the financial market setting for 3 years and included time management, risk and profitability detectors.
“Research shows that a lot of financial systems in the industry today are not durable and this challenge is what prompted me to conduct this project, which was to come up with a Financial support system that can run for 3 consecutive years,” said Ali.
‘Geolocation Event Finder’ by Mohammed Alghaili was another project that intrigued lecturers as it conceptualised all components one needs to know about events in a particular area.
“There is limited information on location applications on the Internet, the existing ones only give us general information of what we need to know; this was the issue I had in mind when I started this project, I came up with an Events Finder Administration System, this app can specifically detect your exact location and give a list of all events and event requirements in your area,” explained Mohammed.
The other presenters were Mhd Nour Al Beta who presented a project on ‘Modular Interactive Affective Agent’; Ousama Esbel who engaged the audience on ‘Hardware/Software verification process through cloud computing’; and lastly a presentation by Hans Ryan Sware on ‘Depth Perception using Android-based augmented reality head mounted display’.
Students undergoing this degree will definitely be highly sought after as System Engineers, Network Programmers, Business Analysts, Information Analysts, Research & Development Engineers and many other related fields.
“The quality of the work displayed by students is excellent, and I congratulate them for their ability to display their talent and creativity in such detail,” said Mike Ng, Lecturer at the Faculty of Information Communication and Technology.
