Graduating students from Limkokwing University’s Faculty of Communication, Media & Broadcasting (FCMB) organised the ‘Momencious’ exhibition at White Box, Publika from 30 June to 1 July 2014.
The exhibition was a collaboration between graduating students in the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Event Management and Diploma in Multimedia, Advertising and Broadcasting programmes. There were several activities throughout the two-day exhibition, such as live performance art and short film screenings alongside the photo and poster exhibits.
The theme for ‘Momencious’ was Jenga, inspired by the students’ view that the game of Jenga reflects their varsity years where they are always looking to balance, move, change and adapt to new places and different environments. Jenga also symbolises their teamwork and synergy in creating precious moments on campus.
“The theme of the exhibition itself was inspired by the game, Jenga. It symbolises the accomplishment of a challenging journey filled with passionate and joyful moments,” said Event Management student, Mohamed Iflal.
‘Momencious’ attracted university students, SPM leavers and over 20 industry guests. CEO of Global Creative and Media Agency (GCMA), Adam Ham and the Head of Industry & Business Development of the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), Siow Aik Wee also gave talks to the students on starting their own business.
GCMA is a PR and marketing agency that caters to clients in the media and entertainment industry while MDeC directs and oversees Malaysia’s national ICT initiative—MSC Malaysia.
For Diploma in Multimedia, Advertising and Broadcasting student, Janel Lim Ci Lin, the exhibition is another source of precious moments with friends that will add to the sweet memories of their university life.
“We might part ways but these are precious moments that will be shared and remembered forever,” Lim said.
Twenty students from nine countries—Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Swaziland and Uganda—were involved in ‘Momencious’.
‘Be the Best – The World in One Place’ exhibition at The Square, Publika
FCMB graduating students and lecturers were also involved in the University’s main exhibition from 26 to 29 June 2014. The ‘Be the Best – The World in One Place’ exhibition was held at Publika’s outdoor exhibition area, The Square.
A virtual compositing demonstration was available at the FCMB booth where visitors recorded themselves in front of “green screens.” A compositing software later replaced the designated green colour with a 3D background, making it seem as though the visitors were standing in front of different backgrounds.
Lecturers performed monologues on the evening of 28 June and Diploma in Multimedia, Advertising and Broadcasting students delivered the main performance—a stage play titled ‘Poison’. Chief Minister of Malacca, YAB Datuk Seri Ir. Idris Haron came to watch as his son was one of the play’s cast members.
