Venezuela is popularly known as a major player beauty pageants and cosmetics industry with 22 successful pageants titles. The Miss Venezuela pageant has been followed closely in the country and has produced 6 Miss World, 7 Miss Universe, 7 Miss International and 2 Miss Earth titles.
The country is officially known as the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and is a federal country located on the northern coast of South America.
Venezuela is bordered by Colombia in the west, Brazil in the South, Guyana in the east and the Caribbean Sea to the north.
Geographically, the country includes part of the Andes Mountain range in the northeast and the Amazon basin in the south. Historically, it was one of the first Spanish-American colonies to declare independence in 1811 but gained full independence as a country in 1830.
The country’s people consist of varied ancestries with a mixture of European, Amerindian and African ancestry.
Venezuela is also known to have one of the world largest oil reserves and is estimated to surpass Saudi Arabia. Other natural resources include precious stones, gold and natural gas.
