Diploma in Mass Communication

This programme has been designed to cater to the high demand for skilled professionals in the fields of advertising, multimedia, public relations and broadcasting, in line with the establishment of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) and the competitive communications industry as a whole.

In sync with the deployment of satellite television, cable television and private radio stations which have contributed to the phenomenal growth of the broadcasting industry, the programme will expose students to both the theories and technicalities of the industry, thus enabling them to discover their own potential in mass communications.

This programme aims to instill students with technological know-how and invaluable skills to produce industry-centric graduates who are computer and IT-savvy, to enable them to excel in the global communications industry.

Students undertaking this programme will be exposed to two majors – Public Relations and Broadcasting – students will be able to choose the area of specialization in their final year (Year 3).

Students undertaking this programme will be exposed to professional writing and communication techniques for the public relations, advertising and broadcasting industry.

Throughout the programme they will be guided on the basics of media laws and ethics, communication and management skills, in order to help them fully conquer the industry, the technicalities and skills needed for them to excel.

Students in this programme will also be taught design skills, presentation skills, communication skills, writing skills and management skills, to further equip them in the everchanging and competitive communications industry.

Students who have completed this programme are expected to have been fully exposed to professional writing techniques which they can apply in the future when they are involved in the public relations, advertising and broadcasting industry. On completion, students will have fully grasped the basics of the media, the laws and ethical values, the communication and management skills needed, and able to apply them in their future careers and further succeed in the industry.

Students will be fully equipped with exceptional design skills, presentation skills, communication skills, writing skills and management skills to apply in the everychanging and competitive public relations, advertising and broadcasting industry.
