Fifteen female students from the Visual and Digital Production Department of Effat University Saudi Arabia visited Limkokwing University on 26 January to learn more about the unique international ecosystem as practised at Limkokwing University’s Cyberjaya Campus.

Effat University is a private non-profit institution of higher education located in Saudi Arabia, operating under the umbrella of King Faisal Charitable Foundation. Effat University is the first private institution of higher education for women in Saudi Arabia. It was established in 1999 by the Queen Effat Al Thunayan, wife of the late King Faisal. Effat University’s goal is to provide to the community and national economy of Saudi Arabia with women graduates who would be highly qualified to assume leadership roles in society, government and private sectors.

Prof. Mohamad I. Abidin, one of the three lecturers accompanying the students, said that Effat University is currently in its semester break. The aim of the visit to Limkokwing University is to expose the students to other cultures as for most of them this trip is the first time they’ve stepped their foot outside of the country. Prof. Mohamad himself is an alumnus of Limkokwing University, who graduated in 2015 from the Faculty of Communication, Media and Broadcasting, and he said that he wanted the students to “experience the unique international ecosystem that Limkokwing University has.”

The students were given a tour of Limkokwing University and attended two short workshops on media recording and design.
