Limkokwing University postgraduate Film and Television students entered the history books when they produced a documentary at the summit of Mount Kinabalu, Sabah on 27 December 2017.

Raja Mohamad Amin Raja Azhar, Saidatul Nurlin Ahmad Hishamnuri and Tay Sheik Er from Malaysia, joined by their colleague Aftab Alam from Pakistan, spent three days and two nights in extremely challenging conditions to achieve the amazing feat.

The “Incredible Journey” was completed for their Documentary In The Digital Age module, part of their Master’s programme at Limkokwing.

“The main objective of this documentary was to illustrate the real challenge of climbing as well as to educate the public on the importance of environmental conservation,” said Raja Amin.

He said the experience also cultivated a stronger sense of cooperation, loyalty and responsibility within the tight-knit group.

“We took this as a challenge as Mount Kinabalu was the highest peak in Malaysia,” said Aftab. “This would be different than other normal documentaries other people do.”

Raja Amin said the “Incredible Journey” would be screened to students at Limkokwing University in Cyberjaya, with imminent plans to release it on a network television station.

Meanwhile, Sheik Er who served as the Director of Photography, said the climb was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“This was very a challenging and tough experience as none of us had ever hiked before. This was our first time and we tried with Mount Kinabalu,” she said.

Sheik Er shifted from a government university to pursue her postgraduate studies at Limkokwing University, because she preferred the global environment at the Cyberjaya campus.

“My advice to students is to always be creative and master your skills as you challenge yourself,” she said.

As for Producer, Saidatul Nurlin, she said Limkokwing University allows one to expose their talents freely, and this is the key to all the great work created by the student body.

“Be creative, Be innovative. Do not limit to express yourself,” said Saidatul.
