Getting Creative

Written by Victoria Edwards

Charmayne Chung has blossomed into a confident woman who is able to express her opinions and visions thanks to the creative and diverse community that is Limkokwing.

“I think studying in Limkokwing definitely changed my life on a personal level; with it being such a diverse university I get to work with so many different creative people from different walks of life so I think it’s built my confidence.  It also helped me to build my confidence; in my current line of work I have to meet new clients every day and personally it helps me to think outside the box.”

Now and Then…

A stroke of luck found Charmayne at a University which offered all that she wanted and lead to an exciting boost into the industry.

“I was looking into doing some TV and film related courses and not many collages were offering these kinds of courses. My friend brought me to the open house at Limkokwing, I talked to someone from marketing who showed me around campus and also showed me the course outline which I found very interesting. Initially after I graduated from Limkokwing I went over to the UK to further my studies so, I was working for a post production house. When I came back I joined a production house but after a while I found that I need a change in my routine. Someone I know told me there was a job opening in MNC the current company I am in. I went for it and got the job!”

Constantly on the run

Being the Assistant Manager of a huge company doesn’t allow Charmayne much time to kick back and relax. But this doesn’t mean she’s not happy and satisfied with her success so far! She measures success as to how passionate you are about your job, and her greatest achievements happen on a daily basis.

“We are the main mobile short provider for media prima, so we handle all of their mobile quick voting shows the most recent being Show Down; and also we do downloads, games, anything mobile related. Also I’m handling the CSR website for Indosat an Indonesian telecom company so I travel to Indonesia once a month.  As well as the Chinese mobile web portal for Umobile; as you can see our profile is huge! I can’t say I have one greatest achievement. Every day is a great achievement, being in this industry it’s always changing so every day I’m learning something new. You never get bored and you always get to meet new people every day, right now I’m actually at my greatest achievement. Almost every day I complete a project so there isn’t just one project that sticks out to me.”

Be Positive!

As far as positive thinking goes Charmayne is right up front. She believes there is no such thing as failure; you only go through a trial and error phase before you find your groove.

“To join this fast pace industry you really need to have an open mind, you need to be able to adapt very quickly with the way things change in this industry. And also you probably have look up for some digital and marketing course because when I was studying universities did not provide such a course.”
