Climate
Botswana's semi-arid climate lends the population's affinity to the word 'Pula' which is not only the name of the country's currency but also Tswana for rain—a valuable commodity for the people. Botswana's summer season begins in November and ends in March. You can usually expect very high temperatures though the summer usually brings with it the rainy season so expect cloud coverage and rain especially during the peak months of January and February.

The winter season starts in May and comes to an end in August. This is also when dry season occurs so expect minimal to none rainfall during this period. Winter days are good times to be outside where the weather can range from sunny and cool to warm. Make sure that you don't venture out underdressed at night however as evening and night-time temperatures in Botswana can drop below freezing point, especially in the southwest.
The in-between periods of transition between summer to winter and winter to summer generally tend to be dry but are much cooler than in summer while nights are warmer than what you normally get in the winter.
