Limkokwing Botswana unveils over five million worth of scholarships to upskill healthcare workforce

Limkokwing University Botswana presented 40 scholarships worth P 5 603 580.00 to the Ministry of Health & Wellness early this year at its headquarters in Gaborone.

With the current challenges brought about by Covid-19, the University continues to play its part in corporate social responsibility by assisting the government to train and upskill more people in various sectors including health so that the nation can be equipped with skills to sustain itself beyond the pandemic.

The Director for Communication & Public Relations Mercy Rebaone Thebe stated that this was a personal gesture by the University’s late Founding President, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Limkokwing as part of his global philanthropic campaign to give much needed aid to front liners who are dedicating their lives to saving lives.

To commemorate Tan Sri Limokwing’s five decades of championing creativity and innovation globally the University availed annual Frontline & Health Care Scholarships and Limkokwing scholarships for orphans and vulnerable children.

Contributing towards attaining a knowledge-based economy

During his acceptance speech at the presentation ceremony, the Minister of Health and Wellness Honourable Dr. Edwin Dikoloti said, “The initiative of availing annual scholarships to various sectors within the economy is a commendable gesture by Limkokwing University and its leadership. There is no better way to empower a nation than to equip its people with relevant skills. We are aware that Limkokwing University has forged strategic collaborations with the Botswana economy and has in the past awarded various industries such as the Media Fraternity, Creative Sector Industry, Underprivileged and Disadvantaged Youth, People Living with Disabilities and this year they have added our sector, being the Health and Wellness sector. We are pleased as a Government that Limkokwing University of Creative Technology is contributing towards attainment of a knowledge-based economy.”

The University does not believe in a one-size-fits-all methodology but prefers a customized approach that takes into consideration the needs of both industry and community of a nation.  Limkokwing offers Certificate, Associate Degrees and Degrees, which focus on creativity and innovation and are relevant to the 21st century human capital demands.
