Limkokwing Lesotho celebrates top achievers of Pope John XIII High School in Qacha’s Nek District
Limkokwing University in collaboration with SM Consulting Engineers awarded top performing students and teachers at the 12th annual prize giving ceremony held at Pope John XIII High School on 23 Apr.
The awards were developed by Mohloli Chamber of Business in 2004 to give recognition and encouragement to students who achieve the highest grades in Form C and E respectively. Teachers whose students scored top marks were also presented with awards for their hard work and excellence.
Attending the event were, Qacha’s nek Senior Education Officer, Mrs. Malijane Selikane; Councilor; School Board members and 5 local institutions of Higher learning namely Limkokwing University, National University of Lesotho, Centre for Accounting Studies, Lesotho College of Education and Lerotholi Polytechnic, motivational speakers, parents, school’s principal, teachers and current students.
Students were given career guidance to expose them to industry practices and different career paths. The local tertiary institutions briefed students on the programmes they offer and the opportunities available upon completion of their studies.
During the prize giving ceremony learners received awards for different achievements in Form C and E respectively. Three teachers were also awarded prizes for their 100% pass in English Language.
Principal Sister Ignatius Mary Makhetha received a hamper from Limkokwing University for outstanding leadership. On her opening remarks she said, “We are truly thankful for the tremendous support the school has received and everyone who took time to come and celebrate the success and achievements of our students and teachers.”
One of the top achievers, Lindiwe Nkaota, who was raised by her father from the young age, attributed her success to the collective effort of her father, classmate and teachers during her studies.
“I was very committed to my studies and received a lot of support from my father and teachers who worked hard to ensure that i pass, I am so happy with these results, it took hours of hard work and I thank the almighty that I managed to succeed,” she acknowledged.
Africa’s musical icon Tshepo Tshola gave students advice on real life lessons and encouraged students to go an extra mile in achieving good results.
“Growing up, I didn’t think that one day I will be a world class musician, stay focused by obeying your teachers their rules will get you a long way,” he concluded.
