Limkokwing University participated in Swaziland Investment Promotion Authority’s 2016 Education Business Expo on the 1st of April at Mavuso Trade Centre.

The edu-expo provided a platform for high school students from around the country to interact with industry professionals and explore career opportunities. They received career guidance through industry talks, presentations and programme briefs by educational institutions as well as industry companies representing selected sectors of the country’s economy.

Attending the expo were, Chief Executive Officer of SIPA, Lindiwe Dlamini; Ministry of Labour & Social Security Under Secretary Norman Gamedze; Simon Mazibuko, Nathi Maziya and Thembisile Hlophe from the Lubombo Regional Education Office.

More than 20 companies and organisations participated including Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Swaziland Civil Aviation Authority (SWACCA), Swaziland Stock Exchange (SSX), IT Solutions, University of Swaziland (UNISWA), Swaziland College of Technology (SCOT), SEDCO, Swaziland Cane Growers Association (SCGA) and National Handcraft Training Centre to mention a few.

During the 3 day event, students were briefed about courses offered in tertiary institutions around the country, how to apply for University scholarships, how to psychologically prepare for tests and exams and lastly how to ensure their subjects and results suit selected industry sectors in the country.

Training Solution (IT) Administrator Lynette Ndzima said they were grateful to SIPA for availing such a platform because they got a lot of students, eager to know about different products and services that were showcased during the event.

“This is a great opportunity for us as well as for the students. We get to interact with the students face to face. We hope that we will have more intakes from school leavers next year since most of the students we had here were mostly form fives and fours,” she said.

St. Anne High School’s Hlengiwe Shongwe mentioned she was thankful for the exposure as she got to mingle with different industry professionals and tertiary institutions.

“I am going back to class with a clear mindset of what I want to do. I got really motivated today, not only in terms of career, but life in general.”

Limkokwing University staff and student ambassadors indulged the students in various activities that included creative competitions, dance challenges and constructive games on which they were awarded prizes for participating.
