Limkokwing Swaziland held the 4th edition of Orientation Programme for first year students on 17 September.

Mr Nkosilenhle Masuku, Limkokwing’s Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program (LEAP) Manager welcomed the new students into Limkokwing’s diverse international community.

He mentioned that they play a vital role in terms of being the innovators of industry as they will be graduating in 2018, four years before Vision 2022 of economic development and transformation of Swaziland.

“Here at Limkokwing we do things differently as we are creative people. We are also innovators. It is for that reason our students do not go for internship, but go for LEAP”, said Mr Masuku.

LEAP is the brainchild of the University’s founder Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing, designed to cultivate entrepreneurial spirit among all Limkowking graduates. LEAP is in parallel with ideals set by the Swaziland government to become a developed nation by the year 2022.

The session continued with Mrs Shongwe, Head of Academic Management, introducing different faculties at Limkokwing Swaziland: Faculty of Business and Globalisation, Faculty of Information and Technology, Faculty of Design Innovation and the Faculty of Communication, Media and Broadcasting. The students were greeted by the faculty members who will be their lecturers and mentors while they study at Limkokwing University.

The campus director read an address from the President of the University in which he welcomed the new students.

“The journey has begun: it is a journey that will never end, every destination will lead you to new challenges. We will be with you for part of your journey; to help you unlock your talents, ignite your passions, fire your imagination. We want you to be the best you can be,” said Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing.

The group was taken on a tour around the campus following a choir performance by Limkokwing Student Ambassadors, who sang the Limkokwing anthem, “Wings to Fly”.

The event closed with a screening of the 2014 graduation ceremony; a final point of motivation which showed students that through hard work and determination, they too will be graduating.

Thobeka Myeni, an International Tourism student, said that she enjoyed her first day of orientation and is looking forward to being a part of the Limkokwing community.

“Limkokwing is the best thing that ever happened in Swaziland, and I am proud to be part of it,” she exclaimed.

“Orientations help me to know about the university, staff members, and what is expected of me as a student. Being in a unique university which offers creative and innovative skills is a dream come true,” said Sibusiso Lushaba, an architecture student.
