The third and final week of the Limkokwing ‘Be A Star’ Orientation week ended with students discovering a place for themselves at the University.

The three-week orientation programme encouraged new students to learn more about themselves while realising their true potential. They explored their own strengths while visiting the faculties at the University to determine their future careers.

Students were given a guided introduction to the Faculty of Business Management & Globalisation (FBMG), Faculty of Architecture & Built Environment (FABE), Faculty of Design & Innovation (FDI), Faculty of Fashion & Lifestyle Creativity (FFLC), Faculty of Multimedia Creativity (FMC) and Faculty of Communication, Media & Broadcasting (FCMB).

“There are so many facilities that would impress anyone like the recording studio and the broadcasting room,” said Malika Akhiyara from Indonesia.

“It’s incredible that a university even has all these equipment and facilities that can help the students get used to the “real-world” working environment.”

Malika who is pursuing a course in Professional Design under the Faculty of Design & Innovation, added that she was especially impressed with the Limkokwing Fashion Club which has its own hair salon as well as an internationally recognised fashion brand that would enable industrial exposure to the fashion industry.

Each faculty offers Limkokwing students with facilities and technology that reflect real world environment while studying at the University. Students will be able to familiarise themselves with industry practices through exposure with the help of Limkokwing’s team of experienced academicians.

“My first impression about the lecturers and tutors and professors was that these are the people who will make me love what I am studying,” said Omar Khalid who is pursuing a course in Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Professional Design under the Faculty of Design & Innovation. “I am so excited to get to know them more.”

“I have to admit some of the lecturers are intimidating,” added Malika. “But then when you get to know them you find out they’re really nice people that genuinely want to help you get better at what you’re interested in and they will work tirelessly to help you with any problem you have.”

Limkokwing students are exposed to a multicultural environment which emphasises both academic and social development. The University’s globalised educational approach allows students to develop their networking skills that benefit their future success as graduates of the University.

The orientation programme included a tour around Kuala Lumpur whereby international students could explore Malaysia’s diverse culture on a personal basis.

Students pursuing a course in architecture could learn to be inspired while international students gain a unique opportunity to study Malaysia’s distinctive architecture.

The tour was intended to produce a new generation of cosmopolitan thinkers by exposing them to Kuala Lumpur’s multicultural fabric.

Students journeyed through historic sites within the city from Petaling Street (Chinatown) and Pasar Seni (Central Market) to the country’s iconic locations such as Petronas Twin Towers at KLCC and Pavilion luxury mall in Bukit Bintang that would imbue them with a sense cultural identity comprised of various ethnicities with traditional and modern designs.

The tour also included a visit to the Limkokwing University’s Kuala Lumpur Campus as well as the Limkokwing Fashion Club store, the world’s first university fashion label designed by students, located at Publika shopping centre in Solaris Dutamas. These students received the opportunity to see exclusive designs created by senior students at the University.

Limkokwing University offers students with a unique multicultural approach towards globalised education. Graduates learn to develop a network of connections from various industries across several countries to help them achieve success in the near future.
