Limkokwing University’s graduating and current students from across faculties showcased their projects in 'Be the Best: Brand the Future' exhibition held at Berjaya Times Square from 19th to 21th June. It was a part of their final assessment which integrated animation, fashion and product design, games, videos, and computer science.

The students, who hailed from semester 2 to 6, were given an opportunity to get their original creative work showcased and collect feedback from the industry and public, while celebrating their creation and achievement in this exhibition.

Independent fashion designer Bon Zainal Harun, who is a member of Malaysian Official Designer Association (MODA) and owns his own label Bon Zainal Menswear, said, “Limkokwing University prepares their students for their future career well by exposing them to the industries before even graduating, and the students, in return, created outstanding work.”

He continued, “Students have shown that they have mastered their areas of expertise, showing quality products comparable to the one in the market. I would even considering to carry their products under my label.”

A graduating Graphic Design student from Malaysia, Luke Lung said, “Be the Best: Brand the Future exhibition was crucial to be an effective platform in exposing my creative designs. It provided an opportunity for me to interact directly with people and explained about my designs and its purpose.”

He designed notebooks made out of recycled papers, which he cut and sewed by hands, and added his original designs on the cover. Lung aimed to showcase his creative work, and raised awareness on recycling reusable materials in making sustainable and environmentally-friendly products.

Lung explained, “I aim to educate my audience on the importance of recycling, and showed them that those reusable materials could turn into valuable products. I believe it would lessen wastes and build a healthier environment.”

A semester 2 Games Technology student from Pakistan, Muhammad Faisal, said, “The exhibition exposes us, and trains us to be practical in group work. We learned both on managing people and knowledge. We get to understand each other’s strengths and maximise it to put our knowledge into work.”

Faisal and his team created a two-dimensional mobile game titled Gula Jump, a never-ending arcade game that required players to beat their own high scores. They aimed for audiences of all ages to enjoy the game, and had uploaded the game in Google PlayStore for downloads.

He explained, “My team and I aimed our audience to range from younger children to even elders.”

Proud of the students’ work, Sound and Music Design Academy (SDMA) lecturer Emir Latief said, “Students showed outstanding work and have created an impressive and exciting exhibition, which would inspire graduating students to move forward in their career in full spirits, and train our current students in practical training.”

He continued, “Be the Best: Brand the Future exhibition also gives a holistic experience for our students to transform their classroom-knowledge into concrete projects, produce exceptional results, and practice to market them to publics.”

Limkokwing University recognises and celebrates students’ creativity and innovation through exhibitions, fashion shows, industry talks, art performances, and many more. These are some of the many platforms Limkokwing University offers to enhance students’ skills, in preparing them for their multi-faceted industries.
