Thirty five students from various schools throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia completed their month-long summer camp at Limkokwing University on 19 August.

The summer camp programme is an educational curriculum that aims to encourage young Saudi Arabian students to converse in English as a medium of communication while promoting multicultural experiences.

Students took part in classes and group sessions that were designed to develop the confidence of these youths during their interaction with other students.

“I came to Malaysia to learn English and now I have made new friends,” said Muohanad Omar. “I also like the people here as well as the green environment.”

Students participating in the summer camp learned to hone their communication ability by focusing on their social skills which would help them to interact with people from other cultures.

Dr. Mahmoud al-Ashqar, the programme leader for the summer camp, emphasised that Malaysia is an attractive location for multicultural exposure.

“Malaysia is a modern country with similar culture to Saudi Arabia that is more connected with the rest of the world,” explained Dr. Mahmoud while adding that he hopes to continue to bring in more students from the Kingdom for the opportunity to participate in the programme at Limkokwing.

He also added that the summer camp at Limkokwing provide greater opportunities for students to immerse themselves in multicultural environment that would help them to develop their interpersonal skills, language skills and curricular skills.
