Limkokwing University Lesotho’s 7th orientation ceremony kept true to the University’s theme of creativity and innovation with lots of fun filled shows, activities, educational briefings, and campus tours.

Held in the 2nd week of August at Limkokwing University Lesotho’s campus under the theme ‘Yonder in Creativity’, the lively event spanned three exciting days. The orientation ceremony was attended by 1000 excited new students eager to kick start their journey into the future. When opening the event, Limkokwing Lesotho Registrar, Mr. Moroka Hoohlo said the University had high hopes for the new students.

“I am truly hopeful that with this batch of students we only have leaders and trend setters that the industry awaits to reshape what is available into a cutting edge environment,” he said.

He went on to encourage the students to keep the hunger and ambition in their eyes throughout their studies and develop a desire to be the change that the country needs to rise to a developed nation status.

Limkokwing University’s Regional Director, Ms. Marcia Mangadi delivered a special message from the University’s Founder and President, Tan Sri Limkokwing, which outlined the University’s commitment to the students’ welfare.

“The University will provide the conducive, stimulating and motivating environment to help students to succeed in achieving all that they want,” the message read.

It went on to encourage students to explore their creativity and take advantage of the opportunity offered to them. Tan Sri Limkokwing’s message also reminded the students to access their childhood curiosity in order to truly reach their full potential.

“We all began life as thinkers. As children we were most creative, we were hungry for knowledge. We were willing to do anything. We wanted to do everything. Nothing was impossible”

Students were introduced to the University Senior Management, the Student Representative Council (SRC), and the Student Ambassadors. Various departments within the University gave presentations on services they offered students.

The second day of the event focused on easing the students’ college life. Various industry leaders were invited to give students insights on how to access necessary everyday services. Some of the companies in attendance included Vodacom Lesotho and Econet Telecom Lesotho from the telecommunications industry, Lesotho Planned Parenthood Association (LPPA) and Voluntary Male Medical Circumcision (VMMC) from the health education sector, and for the banking industry First National Bank (FNB), Standard Lesotho Bank and Nedbank Lesotho were present.

Alumni students shared their experiences and memories of studying in Limkokwing University, and advised students on how to stay focused in their studies.

The afternoon brought in a lighter feel, with singing, dancing, music, poetry and fashion shows. The entertainment was brought to life by celebrated local artists, the likes of Skebza D, Stlofa, Aya, Gudoza, Sentso, The All Stars, Li Thua Majoe, comedian Cura and renowned Poet Mpho Sefali.

The final day of the induction was a familiarisation day, were faculties introduced students to their members, and gave students a glimpse of what they would be studying. Students were also given a campus tour, visiting the various facilities the University offers.
