The Bachelor of Architecture programme is the second part of the Architect's training. It continues from the Bachelor of Science (Architectural Studies) program. Generally there are four streams of studies; design, technology, practice and special interest. Design studies expand in terms of scale and complexity, from multi storey housing to urban design and design thesis. The design thesis is the most comprehensive, in terms of thought development and exploration of ideas. Technology classes explore advance systems (such as integrated systems design and large span structures) and specialised constructions such as prefabricated system, modular system and industrialised building system.
The students are also taught professional practice and project management, in line with the expectations of the Professional Part III Examination.
Specialised studies are introduced to provide special skills to enhance their study and work skills and to provide additional career opportunities. The subject Research Methods provides the skill to use in the Topical Studies which can be a background or preliminary study to their thesis and at the same time sharpen their ability to develop their thesis. In the Directed Elective that student must complete but with a choice of areas of study, either in design theory, project management, business studies or technology. The 8 credits bring the student enough to be initial practitioners in these four fields.

The architectural profession continues to grow and evolve. As population grows, more and more people continue to want more housing, schools, office spaces, commercial spaces. The profession continues to be in demand. Currently only buildings in urban areas use architects. However as nations develop and the standard of living and system of government improve, rural housing too will need architects. Developing countries will also need architects. The demand for architect and career opportunities, either as employees in the pubic sector or as practitioners, continuously increase.
Opportunities for self expression, innovation and development are endless. The process of designing, documenting and building is a very long and involved process. The design process, legal, financial, contractual and statutory process are also becoming more complex. Many young graduates are opting to specialised say in project management, or specialist to provide design or documentation services. IT is playing an increasingly important role in education and practice of architects. At Limkokwing we provide the opportunity to blend with animation, design, graphics and art.
