This programme will cover aspects in new media, internet technology, digital media and how it can be used to enhance communication in the digital era of technology. The digital era of information and technology has created a strong demand for young tech-savvy individuals who are capable in using the latest and most advanced media tools in getting the message through. Students will be exposed to multimedia and how it plays an important role in the information age, digital technologies, theory of communication, new media communication methodologies and the digital society. Material is presented in the form of readings, practical applications and self-assessments.
This programme is for the tech-savvy and young communicators that would like to have an edge in using the latest technology as a tool in communicating. Graduates will not only be able to manage, produce and design multimedia content such as web sites, DVDs and other interactive media, but also have a broad enough capability to allow them to join any organization and perform in the media industry and beyond.
When you graduate you will be able to:
- Exhibit extensive theoretical and practical knowledge of digital media communications;
- Demonstrate capacities for creativity, transformation and interpretation;
- Demonstrate a flexible and innovative approach towards new media communication methodologies and the digital society; and understand their relationship with and responsibility to their cultural environment and society.
On a more practical level, you will be able to:
- Exhibit the capacity to design, conduct and present original ideas via digital media communications;
- critically and creatively engage with digital media of cultural significance across communities;
- contribute at an advanced level as collaborators, designers and writers; and
- demonstrate an entrepreneurial approach coupled with an understanding of how to further innovate digital media communications.
This course is in-line with the nation’s vision in moving towards digital media and technology era. Graduates will be able to go straight into web design and web development, internet advertising, marketing and publishing with a unique touch of communication skills.
Entry Requirements
- Pass STPM / A Levels with minimum 2 principals; OR
- Pass Foundation / Matriculation programme in related field; OR
- Pass Diploma in related field
- Any other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government
Students with a recognized Diploma in related field will be given advanced standing into the Degree programme.
