Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Business Intelligence System

Business intelligence (BI) is a broad category of applications and technologies for gathering, storing, analyzing, and providing access to data to help enterprise users make better business decisions. BI applications include the activities of decision support systems, query and reporting, online analytical processing, statistical analysis, forecasting, and data mining. Data analysis, reporting, and query tools can help business users wade through a sea of data to synthesize valuable information from it.

At the end of this programme, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of essential facts, concepts, principles, and theories relating to information technology.
  • Apply theoretical principles of technology and entrepreneurship in relevant areas.
  • Demonstrate a critical and practical understanding of business intelligence systems and the role they play in providing a competitive advantage to the organizations.

  • Utilize relevant techniques and demonstrate analytical and critical thinking skills in problem solving.
  • Apply skills and principles of lifelong learning in academic and career development.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, clients, superiors and society at large.

  • Demonstrate professionalism and social and ethical considerations in accordance with ethical and legal principles.
  • Apply broad business and real world perspective in workplace and everyday activities and demonstrate entrepreneurial and managerial skills.

Entry Requirements

  • STPM/A Level with minimum 3 principals or CGPA 2.0; OR
  • Pass Foundation/Pre-University/Matriculation in related field and pass SPM/SPVM with 5 credits including Mathematics; OR
  • Pass Diploma in related field with minimum CGPA 2.5. For candidates with CGPA below 2.5 and above 2.0, thorough internal evaluation will be carried out; OR
  • Pass Diploma in other fields with minimum CGPA 2.5; OR
  • Any other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government

Students with a recognized Diploma in related field will be given advanced standing into the Degree programme.
