Limkokwing Borneo launched its new Professional Diploma in Sound & Music Design programme and the on-campus Sound & Music studio last Wednesday in a night full of live acoustic music and glittering fashion show.
Limkokwing Borneo Operations Manager Mr. Salleh Mohidin opened the launch event by giving the audience a brief overview of the course structure in the new Professional Diploma in Sound & Music Design programme. Mr. Mohidin explained that the new programme is designed to coach students on skills such as digital audio application, music arrangement techniques, album design, and to enable the students to develop their listening skills more. He also pointed out that the new on-campus Sound & Music studio will let students gain hands-on experience with an array of professional equipment on par with those used in the industry.
According to Mr. Mohidin, with the launch, Limkokwing Borneo is set to be the pioneering institution in Sarawak to offer specialised training on sound engineering. “The programme is timely as Sarawak’s music industry is expanding rapidly with the emergence of many home-grown musical talents, leading to an increased demand for sound and music engineering expertise”, he added.
Mr. Mohidin then invited Limkokwing Borneo Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Hajah Hanifah Taib-Alsree to cut the ceremonial ribbon signifying the launching of the programme.
The launch event then continued with an open jam acoustic session, featuring a series of performances headlined by Limkokwing Borneo Choir and backed by Limkokwing Borneo Music Club. These were then followed with music and songs by an array of local bands such as B For Tesla, Akoustik Connexion, Syafiq & The Gang, AZAM Young Souls Performers and many more.
The launch event also featured a fashion showcase, featuring exciting new designs and garments by Limkokwing Borneo’s Diploma in Fashion & Apparel Design students, and a lightbox exhibition from the Diploma in Interior Design students. In addition to Limkokwing Borneo students, the launch event night was attended by members of the public and invited guests.
About the Professional Diploma in Sound & Music Design programme
Offered by Limkokwing Sound and Music Design Academy, the Professional Diploma in Sound & Music Design is a two-year course designed for students whom are interested to gain more in-depth knowledge in Sound & Music but do not possess any formal training in both.
