Limkokwing University Botswana recently donated Information Communication Technology (ICT) equipment worth P20, 000 to Semane Community Junior Secondary School.

The handover ceremony was held at the Semane CJSS in Serowe, and was attended the Chief Education Officer; Mrs. B.D.O Monageng, Parent Teacher Association (PTA) members, and members of the Village Development Committee.

The equipment donated included 2 computers, a laser printer, a scanner and a 32 inch LED television, all of which will be beneficial in improving the students’ learning experience.

They were donated following the junior school’s academic triumph, scooping the first position in the Junior Certificate Examinations (JCE) 2013 in the Serowe cluster, which consists of 11 schools. Limkokwing University was invited to the school’s celebratory event on the 8th May this year, where they awarded Semane CJSS the equipment.

In receiving the donation, school Head Mr. K. Baruti expressed gratitude towards Limkokwing University for providing them an opportunity to expose young Batswana to ICT at an early age. He said the school management aspires to produce better results every year, but faces challenges of lack of ICT equipment and resources, hence the donation from Limkokwing will be very helpful.

“We are really honoured that Limkokwing University of Creative Technology has answered our challenges today with the equipment that will be donated to us,” he said.

He also said they were honoured to be working with a University that emphasises ground breaking methods to education which capitalises creativity and innovation of learners, encouraging them to explore their boundaries. He said the collaboration has inspired Semane CJSS management to move away from the traditional book-centric method of education and focus more on student involvement.
