The Limkokwing University international community joined the world in grief by holding a memorial service for the passengers of the Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 (MH370). The diverse community made up of students from more than 160 countries, sent heartfelt condolences and words of comfort to the families and friends of those lost in the unfortunate catastrophe.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 370(MH370) was an international passenger’s flight that disappeared on 8 March 2014 en route from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Beijing Capital International Airport. It last made contact with air traffic control less than an hour after take-off, and it was carrying 12 crew members and 227 passengers from 15 nations.

A search and rescue effort was launched shortly after the aircraft lost contact with air traffic control, and many countries joined in the search. On the 24th March, after 18 long days of hope and prayers by the world at large, Malaysia Airlines and the Malaysian government announced that analyses by the United Kingdom’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) and UK satellite company Inmarsat led officials to conclude “beyond any reasonable doubt” that the aircraft had crashed in the southern Indian Ocean with no survivors.

The Limkokwing community gathered at the plaza in masses to hold a prayer, followed by a song of comfort to the friends and families of the victims. The students also signed messages of condolences, expressing their deep sorrow at the tragedy that has befallen the victims.

“For 18 days, we have been hoping against hope that somehow a miracle will happen. We are now anguished, and pray for the families and friends of the victims,” Limkokwing University student ambassador from China, Wu Tong, said.

“We are keeping the families and friends of the MH370 aircraft tragedy in our prayers. May they find comfort in our support during this difficult time,” another Chinese student, Sun Xiao said.

Amira Binti Yusof, a Limkokwing University Broadcasting student from Malaysia said the tragedy was felt by the world at large, and wanted the families and friends of the victims to know that they have the support of the world at large.

“The world is praying with the families and friends of the victims, they are not alone, and we send our deepest condolences for their loss,” she said.

Limkokwing University offers deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of the passengers and crew of flight MH370.

Stand in solidarity with the rest of the world and express your support to the families and friends of everyone on board flight MH370. Your words of comfort will help them through this difficult time.
