Limkokwing students brought back another award during the 25th Anniversary of the Malaysian Official Designers’ Association (MODA) held at Publika Solaris Dutamas on 3 Sept.

This marks the University’s third consecutive win since 2012 whereby students from the Faculty of Fashion & Lifestyle Creativity participated in MODA’s annual event.

Diploma in Fashion & Retail Design students, Nur Irsalina Sulzaily received the MODA Samsung Innovative Award 2015, while Adilya Botabayeva attained recognition as a Samsung Innovation Award Finalist.

Under the Faculty of Fashion & Lifestyle Creativity, students are encouraged to showcase their designs by participating in various events, exhibitions and competitions.

“For every competition we join, there are always benefits of us placing our work out there,” said Nur Irsalina.

According to Nur Irsalina, this experience enabled her to understand more about other competitors while networking with young designers. The exposure further enhances her career prospects by providing a platform for her to interact with veteran designers as well as with various other industry players.

For Adilya, the event allowed her to experience the feel of a real designer. She mentioned that it taught her to work under pressure and met tight deadlines.

“I even got the chance to show my designs to local designers and learn from them,” she said.

The University has competed in previous MODA showcases and received the Samsung Innovation Style Awards in 2013 and 2014.

As part of the University’s industry-focused approach, students gain experience through exposure by participating in showcases, exhibitions and competitions that develop their presentation, merchandising and entrepreneurship skills.

MODA is a not-for-profit association that represents the interest of fashion designers and aims to nurture growth and development in the fashion industry.
