The ShortShorts Film Festival was established in Tokyo, Japan in 1999 to introduce Japanese audiences to the world of short films. It has taken seven national tours with more than 140,000 audience members to date. In addition to its national tours, the ShortShorts Film Festival has also been hosted in Los Angeles, Singapore and Myanmar.

This is its fourth consecutive year in Malaysia, with Limkokwing University of Creative Technology hosting for the first time.

Alongside the screening of selected short films will be a symposium by guest of honour, Jochen Alexander Freydank who won Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film in 2009 for his film, Toyland.

There will also be industry talks, exhibitions and workshops by industry-leading companies such as Sony, Adobe and Cinema 4D happening across the two-day festival.

The ShortShorts Fim Festival is the only film festival in Japan to be recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as an official qualifier of short films for Academy Awards nomination.
