The talk is to guide the students how to balance personal, professional and civic development when they graduate and embark into PR as a profession.

Future Public Relations practitioners are expected to more conscious of the need to be civic engaged. From the definition of Public Relations itself one can quote that the reason behind management functions is to create brand image for an organization. One will see for whose importance it is for the public or community. Hence, one of the important skills of Public Relations is to be a good community relations person.

As said above, this talk is to guide student to balance personal and professional and civic development. Students will be taught the professionalism in the PR industry and how the industry has engaged civic or community in bringing the development of the corporations' image.

About the Speaker

Professor Shameem Abdul JalilShameem Abdul Jalil is the Corporate Communications & Business Liaison Director of Public Investment Bank, Public Bank Group. With a background in communications, public relations and marketing, she also served on the Council of the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia for five years where she introduced and chaired the "Anugerah Kristal IPRM" to select exemplary Malaysian Public Relations projects.

Shameem Abdul Jalil also has a few publications, awards and recognitions up her sleeve but the most honorable was being appointed Adjunct Professor for the Faculty of Communications, Multimedia & Broadcasting from the Limkokwing University College of Creative Technology and still serves the University in this capacity.

Recently, she launched her book "Growing In Public Relations – Lessons from the Past" which was jointly published by the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) and Public Bank.
