Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing is all these and more.
The founder and president of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology added another accolade to his name recently when he receive the International Contribution to Humanity and Philanthropy Award conferred by Ramadhan Foundation at its 2nd International Muslim Unity Convention.
Ramadhan Foundation chairman Muhammad Umar says Lim is a role model to thousands of young people from more than 150 countries pursuing higher learning programmes at the tertiary institution’s Cyberjaya and other campuses in three continents.
“He has made education the basis for bridging the many divides faced by the world,” says Muhammad.
The foundation also noted Lim’s efforts in voicing the plight of the Palestinians.
His personal journey has given him insights that help him to understand and show concern for other’s hardships.
Muhammad adds: “Tan Sri Lim is able to recognize talent and uses Limkokwing Foundation for Creative Excellence to provide opportunities to those who would otherwise be unable to develop their potential.
“For many years he has sponsored physically challenged people, enabling them to acquire skills that gained them entry into creative industries.”
Recently Forbes named Lim a Hero of Philanthropy.
In 1996, Lim helped to raise global awareness of the conflict in Bosnia Herzegovina by producing a book, organizing roadshows and setting up a dedicated website.
In 2003, he mooted the Kuala Lumpur Global peace conference. The result was a nine-point memorandum on achieving world peace.
Lim was named Erns & Young Malaysian Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005 for his work towards improving international humanitarian relations, building human capability and enhancing cross-cultural understanding.
