
In conjunction with Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak’s declaration for this year to be the Year of Creativity and Innovation, a compilation by innovation guru Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing was launched today.
The ceremony, held in the Westin Hotel, was officiated by Tuan Haji Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Minister of Science Technology and Innovation was set in motion with the premier showing of a documentary video chronicling Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing’s achievements with first-hand accounts from friends and students and concluded with a rendition of ‘Wings to Fly’ by the Limkokwing International Choir.
The book titled Innovation Enabling Transformation offers Tan Sri Lim’s frank views on the need for Malaysians to acquire fresh knowledge to compete in tomorrow’s world through a compilation of speeches, articles and blogs and other Limkokwing publications.
In his speech, the deputy minister said that the book comes at the right time for Malaysians to take a step forward in creativity and innovation.
“Tan Sri Lim’s book, Innovation Enabling Transformation comes at a timely period for us in Malaysia where it has finally sliced innovation into pieces that are palatable to us. I hope the book will enable the moment to engage people to create and innovate,” he said.
Innovation is seen as a rallying call for Malaysians on how to be more innovative before moving Malaysia to a developed nation and who better to have the advice handed down from than the Father of Innovation, Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing himself.
His opinion offers and in depth vision about how Malaysia could be potentially developed. It creates a path and a road map for everyone to assimilate and together be part of a more innovative and competitive Malaysia.
Speaking on Tan Sri Lim’s vision, Yang Berhormat Tuan Haji Fadillah Yusof called the man a fine example of a man who practices what he preaches, and used this opportunity to once again acknowledge Tan Sri Lim for his accomplishments, as an innovator of creative education.
Yang Berbahagia Datuk Paddy Bowie added, “What Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing and his creative world is all about is capturing, using, applying wonder and bringing it back to civilization. The roadmap is through industries, through enterprises, through countries around the world.”
Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing is also the founder of the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Malaysia’s premier creativity university. The university has branched out to 12 countries in 3 continents with an enrolment of 30,000 students from 140 countries worldwide.
