Celebrating Cambodia’s Next Generation of Leaders

Celebrating Cambodia’s Next Generation of Leaders

After a year of operation in Phnom Penh, Limkokwing University Cambodia is now easily recognised as a leading international institution in the country. The campus in Phnom Penh Thmey currently hosts over 600 Cambodian students as well as international students from 10 countries.

To mark its successful first year on 12 August 2009, Limkokwing University Cambodia invited several media representatives to attend a press conference at the University.

The main purpose of the press conference was to celebrate the achievements of its outstanding students, recognised by many as Cambodia’s next generation of leaders.

Many of the media representatives who turned out that day were also part of the same delegation which visited the Cambodia campus during its opening exactly one year ago. The continuity was evident for them - they were thrilled to see the same quality, developed facilities and so many happy faces among the students.

The press conference kicked off with the visitors being sweetly serenaded by the students’ choir who performed the Limkokwing University song”Wings to fly”. The agenda continued with a warm welcoming note from Emmeline Lyon, Assistant Director and Campus Manager.
Also present during that day was Vice President of International Development Dr. Jayles Yeoh and Special Assistant to the President Tiffanee Marie Lim who flew in all the way from Malaysia. Tiffanee Lim then gave a presentation, detailing Limkokwing University’s global vision and showcasing the latest achievements of its students.

“At Limkokwing, we are creating Cambodia’s young leaders of tomorrow,” said Dr. Jayles Yeoh. He also added that students at Limkokwing Cambodia campus have already begun their transformation, instilled with the determination and desire to make a difference and implement change in the world.

Those present during the press conference were fascinated with the testimonials of outstanding students who mostly came from Cambodia, China and the Philippines. The highlights of this event were the five young leaders who shared their ideas and experience with their university – the place which made them realize what they wanted to achieve in their lives and career, encouraged them to strive for their goals; the place which gave them wings to fly.

Recently, Limkokwing University, Cambodia has brought its education standards to the next level through the accreditation awarded by the Accreditation Service of International College (ASIC) which is an organization appointed by the Government of UK to ensure that programmes are well delivered, and that the premises of the institution conform to the appropriate British standards and quality.
