The Limkokwing London Student Exhibition was held at the Limkokwing London campus on the 27th May 2010. The annual, one-day event was made up of a creative exhibition that showcased students’ creative works in Creative Multimedia, Photography, Graphic Design and Professional Communication; and a Business & IT fair that provided students from the Business & IT faculty with a forum to present their work.
The exhibition was opened by the Academic Leader of the Limkokwing London campus, Paul Gilliam and the Acting Head of the Faculty of Creative Multimedia, Max Schleser. Gilliam said: “This exhibition has once again showcased the creativity of our international students across all disciplines. Their work truly demonstrates our claim to be at the forefront of creative technology.”
Schleser said: “The Limkokwing London campus showcases another excellent exhibition, which is part of the London Excellence Awards—an annual event celebrating London’s talents. Our graduating students will go out into the world equipped with the creative skills to make a difference anywhere in the world. It is great to see these students working together, setting up the event including music performances, video screenings and workshops.”
Director of Creativity Development, Tiffanee Lim, made a special appearance at the event alongside a group of Global Classroom students from the Limkokwing Cyberjaya campus. Students from London and Cyberjaya had collaborated on the preparations for the event.
Mohammed Khairudin, one of the event management students from the Limkokwing Cyberjaya campus said: “The lecturers were really helpful, guiding us through the process of the event and as students, we got a lot of attention from the lecturers while having a good time in London being exposed to one of the world’s most creative cities.”
Laren Alexander, one of the students from the London campus who’s majoring in graphic design, exhibited his final-year project—a series of designs for a tattoo convention in the form of a flyer and poster. He said: “I really loved being able to see our (students) artwork and it was great to show my own tattoo designs in Mayfair.”
One of the fun components of the event was a game called ‘The Marshmallow Challenge.’ Students were asked to work in a group to design and build a free-standing ‘Spaghetti Marshmallow’ tower. Following the exhibition and workshop, presentations were held at the gallery where the Business & IT students talked about creative innovation in marketing through the use of social networks and how to produce advertisements in a globalised world.
Global Classroom student, Mohammed Khairuddin, a member of Malaysian band, ‘The Last Traffic Light’, performed live on stage, bringing to a close an event that brought students and lecturers from London and Cyberjaya together through a celebration of creativity.
