Creativity in Work; Most Trendy Way

Creativity in Work; Most Trendy Way

Many professionals were born from the diversification of social development and most of them are related to the design and creativity industry, plus they have always encouraged the younger generations to apply creativity in their work.

The educational philosophy of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology is to give the multi-talented young generation the chance have their creative thinking caps on, to learn from the wisdom of accomplishment and to master the professional skills, as well as to be actively striving with full courage to join the industry.

According to Vice President of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Dr. Yeoh; most of the Chinese students in Malaysia have always had their choice in career of the traditional professions such as doctors, teachers, lawyers, engineers and so on.

“Chinese students have the traditional way of thinking that they must be in the business or expertise area where that is the only way for them to be successful in life. The Chinese parents, in particular, have the thinking that playing music or painting will not be good for their future and it can only be an interest. Although many parents nowadays will send their children to learn music but when the kids grow up, they would want to change the child’s thinking by asking the children focus only on science or mathematics.”

He also mentioned that, parents always hope that their child can obtain good results; their ultimate goal is for their children to obtained A’s in all the subjects. But in today’s era, the trend has constantly changed; this way of thinking might be suitable for 30 years ago but not anymore.

Parents Need to Keep up with the Pace of Information

In this 21st century, children can easily communicate with outside world without even needing to step out from their house – thanks to the advanced of science and technology. There are some traditional minded parents that might think that the new era of technology will bring more harm to their children as they would only use the advanced tools to chat online and don’t do anything good of it. In actual fact, due to the rapid changes in the world today, the Internet has become part of everyone’s life. It offers the easiest and largest access of information and news. Therefore, with all these fast changes happening around us, parents should accept this new medium of media.

Dr Yeoh also said that, since there is the existence of the internet access now, it has reduced the distance between countries. For example, a graphic designer does not need to work abroad and can remain where he is while with just a few clicks, his works can be viewed in almost everywhere in the world with the help of the Internet. The children nowadays have grown up in such an environment, so parents must keep up with the pace in order to let the children exert their design talents.

Limkokwing University of Creative Technology has make their emergence through 11 universities and colleges around the world, including countries like Botswana, Beijing, Phonm Penh, Bali (Indonesia), Lesotho, Swaziland and United Kingdom - to create a global learning environment. This effort allows Limkokwing University’s students to have the opportunity to travel abroad to study or conduct communication in other countries, at the same time having the opportunity to learn and experience the different cultures.

He also stressed on that when the students have the opportunity to go abroad, the idea is bound to changes after they return here. Limkokwing University had achieved the idea of having a ‘Global Class Room’, and this allows the Chinese children to apply their creative ability as the Chinese are not only good in business but their potential is unlimited if they show their talent in design and creativity!

Insight with Botswana Culture

In addition, the students of Limkokwing University in Botswana had for the first time introduced their traditional food – Seswaa and Chakalaka to the Malaysian students during the celebration ceremony of their 43 years of Independence Day.

According to the Chairman of the Botswana Student Association - Aobakwee Ramadubu, the entire ceremony was organised by the students and this had given them an opportunity for other students to experience the Botswana culture. On that day, the ceremony started with the drum and rubber boots dance, followed with the performance by the students wearing their traditional clothing – Phathisi while performing their own country’s traditional dance.

At the same time, the students also wrote a poem called “Guardian”, the content of the poem is mainly praising them as “guardians of the diamond, gold and silver” and certainly they are very proud of it!
