The walls of the famous Limkokwing Plaza were really rocking on Saturday evening, 22 August. The communal focal point of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology was the location for “Maya – Dancing to Reality”, organised by the University’s Indian Culture Club.

Several thousand music and dance enthusiasts from all parts of the Klang Valley came together to witness a dream – a dream shared by Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Lim Kok Wing, Founder & President of the University which bears his name, and Vicram Lachumanan, President of Indian Cultural Club.

The evening’s festivity was also attended by Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, YB Senator Kohilan Pillay who commented that “private higher education institutes like Limkokwing University of Creative Technology play a vital role in Malaysia”. He added that the evening’s “Maya” performance “created a richness of Indian culture and fine arts”, and also demonstrated the University’s support for the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility.

Tiffanee Marie Lim, Special Assistant to the President of Limkokwing University, had earlier welcomed participants and guests to an event which her father envisioned would create the illusion of unity into reality.

Eight universities and colleges were represented in a special Intervarsity Dance Contest to demonstrate their creativity and skill, with the top awards being presented to Masterskills, HELP University and MMU Melaka.

But the evening also featured performances by Bharathanjali Dance Academy and Limkokwing International Dance Academy, with music provided by a number of local bands, including Dr. Burn, K-Town Clan, GoldKartz and Twisted Edge, and supported by a special dance performance by “V”.

There were also special appearances by Director Venkat Prabhu and Linda Jasmine and the whole night concluded with a very special musical tribute to the late, great Michael Jackson.
