Electro.pup is his stage name and he has won Best Dance Act at the recent Voize Independent Music Awards (VIMA) 2010.
Colin Poh as he is otherwise known named himself Electro.pup after a large ‘doggy’ influence in his life. For starters, according to Chinese Astrology, he was born in the year of the Dog. He also has a total of 9 dogs back home in Ipoh and of course, his obvious love for the Electro music.
Electro.pup has an authoritative knowledge of the Electro genre and has used this to produce songs that have won him the award on his 1st nomination to the awards.
He discovered his passion for music at the age of 10, picking up the guitar and was in a metal band before expanding his horizons to experiment in producing Electro music.
The old saying, ‘It takes a village to raise a child,’ now has a new twist as it took a Colin Poh used his classroom in the Limkokwing Sound and Music Academy to win an award.
“Actually, one of the tracks I submitted was part of an assignment and I used this opportunity as well as the critics from my lecturers and classmates to fine tune the track and use the knowledge on other tracks,” said Colin.
Colin is doing his second programme at the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology having graduated in Multimedia Design and is currently pursuing a Professional Diploma in Sound and Music Production.
Limkokwing is the leading creativity based university and its students are no strangers to the VIMAs with one other nomination this year for Jonah Sithole in the Best College Act category.
