French Art Festival picks Limkokwing students’ design to promote event

A design created by Limkokwing students will be used to promote the upcoming French Art Festival, which will be held at various locations in the Klang Valley from 8-25 May, the organiser, the French and Alliance Francaise, announced today.

The design based on the French national flower, the fluer de lis or iris, is to be used for posters, invitation cards, flyers, booklets, bunting and t-shirts. It was jointly created by Chua Chinn Yin, Mischele Mariam, Nurulhuda Mansor, Chai Chiang Chiew and Tan Jau Yong.

According to the French Embassy’s cultural coordinator Celine Pineau, the design was selected on the basis of the high level of professionalism in delivering the presentation.

“In fact, their design is also very professional looking. In addition, the students managed to portray the festival as a fun, artistic, joyful and colourful event as per our request,” she noted.

Team member Mischele Mariam said that their design conveys a sense of variety of the festival which will showcase music, dance, films and food.

“As the flower also means rainbow, our design represents the diversity of the French arts scene,” Mischele explained.

For its 7th edition this year, the Kuala Lumpur is chosen as the venue for the festival. KL Pac will host a contemporary dance performance.

Eight French movies will be screened at GSC One Utama, Mid Valley and The Pavillion Kuala Lumpur as well as in Gurney Drive in Penang.

Celebrants can take part in the Fete de la Musique , an exceptional rendezvous party to promote cultural diversity.. Artist Jeff D-Phillipot will share his discovery of Kuala Lumpur through a video presentation at the Limkokwing KL Centre gallery from 12-18 May 2008.
