Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dr Lim Kok Wing, president of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT) was recently given the award for ‘Asia’s Most Accomplished Educationist’ by Seokyeong University.

He was also awarded the Honorary Doctorate for Leadership in Global Education at an international graduation ceremony by Dr Kim Sung Min on behalf of the chairman of the Korean university.

Also at the ceremony, Professor Kwon Jin Hyuk, president of Korean Council for College Education (KCCE) received the Honorary Doctorate for Innovation in Education from Limkokwing University for his contribution to the Korean education industry.

The event also marked a partnership in education between Korea and Malaysia as well as an induction of Seokyeong University into the Limkokwing University consortium for executive education.

“Tan Sri Lim has built a global presence in a way no other universities have achieved. Limkokwing University has set up a campus in the United Kingdom which is part of Tan Sri Lim’s philosophy to merge both sides of the world,” said Dr Kim Sung.

The university’s unique philosophy of merging the best of east and west education has allowed its students to experience the best of both worlds in one sociable environment. The philosophy hopes to strengthen global education and improve cultural insight in life.

At the graduation ceremony, themed ‘Empowering to Make Possible the Impossible’, Lim and the governing council honoured the Class of 2009, a total of 440 students from 35 different countries with their respective diplomas and degrees.

Some of the distinguished guests present at the graduation ceremony included former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali who was there to see their daughter Maizura graduate along with Nina Sabrina Ismail Sabri, daughter of Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Also present was Tunku Bendahara Kedah Datuk Seri Tunku Anuar Ibni Alwonders marhum Tunku Badlishah, the proud parent of Tunku Harunnarasheed Putra. The three received the President’s Award for Young Achievers, recognizing their outstanding effort in extracurricular activities.
