The Merah Putih Club, an association comprising Indonesian students of Limkokwing University, recently held the Rupa or Room for Art showcase exhibition at the university in Cyberjaya.

Organised annually since 2005, the event gives an opportunity for the students to display their creative skills.

Works on show included paintings, art videos, mixed media, sculptures and fashion creations. Seventy-eight artworks from more than 17 artists on the theme Original were showcased. The students also performed dances.

The five-day event was aimed at fostering closer relations between Limkokwing’s students of various nationalities.

A jumble sale was also held on the last day of the exhibition when students sold Indonesian trinkets and clothing.

The university’s senior vice-president for corporate development, Prof Gail Phung, congratulated the club on organising the successful event.

“The club had truly done well in introducing Indonesian students’ artistic works. This would inspire other students to promote theirs,” she said.
