Limkokwing University and the United Nation Children’s Education Fund (UNICEF) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement to improve the living standard of children across the world.

The MoA, which was signed by Tan Sri Lim and Youssouf Oomar, UNICEF Representative in Malaysia, will serve as a general framework for their co-operation. The memorandum will be valid for the next five years.

Oomar says that Tan Sri Lim has inspired him and a multitude of multi-nationals students. That is why UNICEF does not hesitate to work with the university.

The partnership begins with the implementation of the ‘Heal the World Campaign’. This will give access to special music video of Let’s Heal the World, created entirely in-house, to be circulated worldwide by UNICEF. The video features students from 30 countries and promotes worldwide commonality. This is also a proof that the university’s work with the United Nations has been progressing well since the university’s initiation in 1991.

Limkokwing University has also established Limkokwing Institute for Tomorrow (LIFT) in Africa, which focuses on setting up ICT training centres to provide free training to the disadvantaged people in Africa.

The program will also set up, manage, and maintain the centres with the support of local communities, as well as provide the hardware, software, and trainers.

The university has invited the UNICEF to fully utilize LIFT for the betterment of children and young talents in Africa.

Limkokwing University and the UNICEF have also agreed to collaborate to advance the knowledge and understanding of young people on issues related to children and their rights; develop an annual activity plan at the end of each year for implementation during the following year that will address themes relating to children which can be considered for students’ coursework, and create opportunities for young people’s voices to be shared and respected.
