Korea’s Cheju Halla college is keen to collaborate with Limkokwing University

Cheju Halla College is a private college in Jeju city. Located in South Korea’s island province of Jeju-do, the college is home to 4,500 students mostly taking ABE programmes in Tourism Management & Nursing courses.

Originally established as a nursing school, it is now introducing programmes in many other academic fields.

This is the purpose of the mission that prompted the Vice President of Cheju Halla College, Sung Hun Kim, to visit the London campus of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology at 106 Piccadilly Street on 16 July 2010.

The global university

The South Korean visitors were fascinated by the concept of global classroom, a teaching method pioneered by Limkokwing University and which has won the hearts and minds of governments in the developing world.

This is a unique philosophy of merging the best of the East and West; students of this programme will learn to appreciate the uniqueness of different cultures and traditions and develop a broader and more sophisticated view of the world.

The global classroom serves as a platform to expand the mind enabling students to be more creative and productive because more resources will become available for problem solving.

Appreciation of other cultures will also motivate students to develop respect for other people which in turn will result in healthier relationships.

International voice of innovation

As Malaysia’s most high profile creativity university, Limkokwing has been focused on creativity and innovation to build the world’s next generation of content creators who are tech-savvy, creative problems solvers and culturally competent global graduates.

The university is a ‘corporate citizen’ in lending its expertise and support to government initiatives and policies designed to implement innovation as the main driver of the economy.

In recent times, Limkokwing University has helped redefine creative education in the country through innovation and to drive this message across with impact, it took the lead in organising the one-day Malaysia: Innovation Nation convention at its sprawling Cyberjaya campus.

Attended by industry captains, academics, professionals, entrepreneurs, school heads, members of the foreign diplomatic community and invited speakers, the convention was officially opened by Prime Minister Date’ Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, himself a strong advocate of creativity and innovation.

At the conference, the President of Limkokwing University, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Lim Kok Wing stated that in order to enhance Malaysia’s competitive edge, the country must establish an eco-system that will sustain all efforts and create a strong foundation so the economy would grow adding value to its resources.

College wants to learn from us

The visit of the South Korean delegation is an opportunity for Cheju Halla College to build collegiate ties with Limkokwing University and pursue possibilities for its students to come to Cyberjaya to pick up the best of East and West global education.

Limkokwing University has a global network of 282 university partners from 77 countries and furthermore, its degree and diploma courses are delivered in 20 countries worldwide.

Koreans students are regular visitors to Limkowking University where they learn the finer points of the English language at the International House as part the of the Summer Camp programme.

Welcome Cheju Halla College

Expressing keen interest to visit Limkokwing in the near future, Mr. Sung Hun Kim said exchanging a MoU that would open a new chapter of academic links between Cheju Halla College and Limkokwing University.
