
Limkokwing opened its doors to thirty one excited students from two Korean universities yesterday who participated in the International House (IH) English Summer Camp Programme.
The students came from Kyung Hee University and Soo Kyung University in the capital city of Korea, Seoul, and will undergo the summer camp programme for the next five weeks.
“The students chose to pursue their English learning programme at Limkokwing University because of our reputation as being the world leader in the International House programme,” said John Norwick, Director of Studies in IH.
He mentioned that the students finds it beneficial as they are able to study two courses for the price of one and they can enjoy high standards of living at an affordable cost.
The summer camp which is held twice a year, gives students the opportunity to broaden their range of vocabulary and develop oral fluency as well as to improve their writing in relevance to their various study paths. Classes are offered in all aspects of the English language which includes grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening, speaking as well as pronunciation.
Students from all over the globe come to Malaysia and enroll in the programme because of its quality and for the learning experience with a unique twist. One of the objectives is to make the learning process fun and interactive. This builds the confidence as well as the personality of the students, hence upon completion of the programme, they can continue to aspire to learn more and broaden their perspective mindset and exposure in life.
The atmosphere on campus is unique as it has diverse culture, and different nationalities that will benefit the students because they can interact with others and discover more about the rest of the world in the process. English speaking is encouraged among the students at Limkokwing University, thereby the more the students communicate with others, improvement of their language efficiency will be visible.
Malaysia has a conducive studying environment and offers many benefits. The warm, friendly and hospitable nature of Malaysians makes the students feel right at home and they are able to adapt to the lifestyle easily. The students also get to enjoy great travel opportunities to the beaches, mountains and waterfalls of the country and will also enjoy an exciting shopping experience.
Kim Natalya, 21, from Kyung Hee University expressed her excitement because this is her first time in Malaysia and she looks forward in exploring the new environment.
“It is good to be here and I am impressed by the school so far. It will definitely be an exciting few weeks and I hope to learn a lot from this opportunity”, she said.
Another Chinese student, Suan Shuang Yin, 21, said, “I am looking forward to the summer camp and I have fallen in involve with Malaysia because of its warm climate here and I can swim whenever I want compared to Korea.
He further mentioned that he hopes to become a better speaker and writer of the English language at the end of the programme.
During the campus tour, the students were amazed by their new educational hub for the next few weeks and are mostly impressed by the Sound and Music studio where they got the chance to try out some of the music instruments and were given some demonstrations.
Park Woo Hyun, 22, said that it was interesting to see that the university gave an abundance of opportunities to students to explore and utilize their creative talents.
The students are all hoping to equip themselves with a better understanding of the English language which will then help them further in their studies.
Most of the students come from different learning backgrounds such as law, medicine, tourism, architecture and business and shall be returning to their respective fields upon at the completion of the programme.
The university is the only university which has an International House in Malaysia where more than 6000 students from all over the world gather together to improve their fluency in the English language.
