In a landmark partnership, Limkokwing University and a United Nations Agency will work together to promote, among others, world peace and understanding.
Under an agreement signed recently between the University and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) the organizations will undertake collaborative projects, utilizing each other’s strengths and resources.
As a start, UNICEF will carry an innovative message from the university to 150 countries, coincidentally almost all of which have students studying in Limkokwing’s campuses worldwide.
The message is one of peace, reconciliation and making the world a better place. It is contained in the lyrics of a song called Heal the World, composed in-house and sung by a choir made up, appropriately, of international students.
The song was an offshoot of the university’s Heal the World Campaign that it launched recently to bring peace to the world’s conflict zones.
UNICEF will distribute copies of the music video worldwide.
The organizations also agreed to work on a project for the betterment of children and young talents in Africa under the newly-established Limkokwing Institute for Tomorrow (LIFT) in Africa.
Under LIFT , Limkokwing will set up, managep and maintain ICT training centres with the support of local communities, and provide the necessary hardware, software and trainers. UNICEF will have full access to LIFT facilities in promoting its objectives.
The Memorandum of Agreement between UNICEF and the University was signed by UNICEF Representative, Malaysia Mr Youssouf Domar and University President, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dr Lim Kok Wing.
At the signing ceremony Mr Youssouf paid rich tribute to Tan Sri Lim’s motivational leadership.
Addressing staff and students, he said:”, Tan Sri can inspire me and can inspire you to do more and to do better. Tan Sri is a great leader.”
“Partnering with Limkokwing University is partnering with people who mean business. We want to work with people who are working differently in a world that is changing rapidly.
“We want to work with people that are innovative, people that are creative, people who want to come out with their hidden talents.
“We want you to be involved in education that empowers you to take control of your lives’.
Specifically, the University and UNICEF agreed to:
This is the university’s second collaboration with UNICEF. Earlier in the year, both organizations undertook an AIDS awareness campaign. Students worked on campaign material such as posters and brochures.

Let’s Heal the World
Let’s Heal the World sets the tone for a dynamic partnership between Limkokwing University and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to provide young people platforms to express themselves and to create a world fit for children.
Composed, sung and arranged by students and staff of Limkokwing Sound and Music Design Academy in 2009, the music video symbolises both organisation’s vision for a peaceful and safe world where the rights of every child are protected and celebrated.
Let’s Heal the World is dedicated to children around the world in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
