
One of China’s key educational institutions, Liaoning University and Malaysia’s only institution focused on creativity, the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology have signed an agreement for a long-term academic tie-up.
Liaoning University has grown, over half a century, into a multiple-discipline comprehensive university, embracing Chinese language and literature, history, philosophy, economics, law, foreign languages, art, natural science, engineering and management.”
The agreement was signed when a delegation from the University led by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Du Xisng Kui visited the Limkokwing University campus along with its Vice-President, Mr. Feng Chun Dong and his Assistant, Mr. Yu Hao Yang and other senior officials in March this year.
They were warmly greeted by Limkokwing’s Vice-President, International Market Development, Dato’ Dr Jayles Yeoh, students from China and the Marketing team.
They paid a courtesy call on the Founder and President of Limkokwing University, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr Lim Kok Wing.
Mr. Du and his associates were escorted through a campus walkabout and briefed on Limkokwing University’s unique celebration of creativity.
Limkokwing is a creative hub that encourages, recognizes and celebrates creativity and innovation where students express their ideas though various disciplines they are enrolled in.
The visitors took cognizance of the several business units incubated on campus for global franchising ranging from hair design, fashion wear, fitness centre, music studio, multimedia content development, photo library, talent agency and F&B outlets.
They were told that these outlets serve an ultimate purpose as accelerators for students to acquire hands-on industry skills and exposure. The outcome is to produce employable graduates embedded with the necessary knowledge, experience and confidence to boost their future careers.
Later, the Liaoning visitors were guided through the Limkokwing Creativity & Innovation Research Centre, a 3-storey showroom displaying the University’s many works of creativity many of which were crafted by the President himself over a period of four decades.
They also visited the Branding Innovation Centre and the Worldwide Gallery where they saw creative fashion works and other innovative designs and art pieces.
The China Liaoning University was truly impressed by the hallmark of Limkokwing University – innovation - that was etched on every facet of the campus.
During a recent visit to Limkokwing University, the Minister of Science, Technology & Innovation, Malaysia, Datuk Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili, commented that the University was a trailblazer in creative education.
“The subject of creativity and innovation is, of course, a subject that is so crucial to Malaysia. This University has institutionalized the whole field of creative thinking and the whole field of innovation.”
