Just when you thought the University was the only one winning awards on an international level, 2 students from the Faculty of Design Innovation sweep the top awards presented in the Student Category of the Direct Marketers Association Malaysia (DMAM).
Fatin Shakira and Kim Byoung Su both pursuing their BA in Professional Design both walked away with the silver Awards for being the Best-student in Direct Mail (Flat mail/Dimensional pack).
The DMAM awards celebrate the best direct marketers’ and direct marketing students in the business for their talent and execution of campaigns accordingly thus recognizing and promoting the value of direct marketing in the country.
The call for entries in the student category was opened to students of Design, Advertising, Communications and Marketing inviting them to submit entries in 5 campaign categories: Flat Mail, Dimensional Mail, Internet/Interactive Media, Alternative Media and Web/Digital Media all of which must include a campaign strategy write-up.
The entries were judged by a panel of industry top-guns that include Graham Kelly of TBWA/Tequila; David Sin of Grey Direct Interactive; Fazlee Sabbarudin of Rapp Collins (M) Sdn Bhd; Lee Siew Tin of Ogilvy Worldwide Sdn Bhd; Valerie Chen of Arc Worldwide; Sean Koh of Diageo; Paul Mclean of Fuji Zerox Asia-Pacific Pte Ltd and Genista Tan Chieu of DIGI.
G2 Direct Interactive’s Sam Chan said, ”The judges have been selected for their versatility and industry exposure, and represent a mix of agencies and clients. Collectively, their experience spans on DM, brand building, loyalty programmes, as well digital DM.
The judges cover campaign strategy, creativity, results and the ROI looking for strength of concept, execution, impact and innovation. But given that these Direct Marketing awards, actual productivity of the work takes up majority of the criteria on how we judge an entry. In DM, strength in strategy, targeting and creativity plays a big role in driving productivity.”
