
Limkokwing University of Creative Technology this week hosted a media lunch in appreciation of the relationship they have had with the local media since the university opened in Botswana.
The university’s Public Relations Manager Mercy Bonnie Thebe also said the occasion that was held at the Rodizio Brazilian Restaurant on Tuesday was intended to get opinions on how they could improve their relationship with the media. When addressing journalists at the event, Thebe noted that the university had been outstanding ever since its establishment and that it had won several awards in its pursuit for academic excellence.
“I am delighted to inform you that The Limkokwing University website, which is managed by the university’s alumni, won two major global awards for Web Design and internet creativity.
The 2009 Web Award for Best of Arts by the Web Marketing Association of USA, found the Limkokwing University website outstanding in areas of; design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, copywriting and ease of use.
“In April this year, the website won the Design Firms monthly Web Award for Best Web Award 2009. It was judged for its outstanding creativity in design, programming, compatibility, ease of use and effectiveness, scoring 88 points out of 99 points possible.” She also reminded the audience that the Limkokwing Entrepreneurial Acceleration Platform (LEAP) that was launched by former Minister of Trade and Industry was progressing well. On the planned events Thebe said the university would soon be sponsoring Miss Botswana Sumaiyah Marope as a part of-their commitment to support their students outside the learning environment. The university, Thebe said “would also launch a face, and hair design centre” as well as a campus radio station called Wings Radio.
