After a career spanning over 40 years as Malaysia’s foremost creative thinker and design wizard, as Malaysia’s first published cartoonist, advertising a genius educationist, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology Founder President has been presented with another accolade, from the State of Palestine in appreciation of his work in nation-building and peace promotion. The gracious ceremony was held at the Palestinian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, presented by His Excellency Abdelaziz Aboughosh.
Most passionate about spending his time doing things for others, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Lim Kok Wing has been private about his contributions to society. Often achieving the seemingly impossible, Tan Sri Lim has acted as a mediator, fund-raiser and radical, fighting for causes such as the starvation in Darfur, Sudan, the end of South African apartheid, and the Plight of the Palestinians, among the many.
“Of all the awards I have received, this is one of the most meaningful because it is from Palestine. Because it comes from a brave people who have spent the last 60 years in refugee camps in their own country, fighting to protect their sovereignty. No words that I can say can sufficiently convey my respect for the people there,” Tan Sri said in his remarks.
Professor Tan Sri Lim has been gathering support for the Palestinian cause for almost twenty years, spending half of his creative career educating and urging whomever he could to help.
His previous effort, a full scale exhibition, consisting of graphic photographs and videos was launched in 1998 by the Prime Minister’s wife at the time, Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah and won recognition both in and out of Malaysia including the Best in Social Responsibility Award by the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia.
