Limkokwing University is all about being creative and innovative. As part of its neverending quest to instill creativity in the younger generation, a campus visit was organized for students from the Phsar Doeum Thknov High School.

On 22 May 2009, Limkokwing Phnom Penh was flooded with the excited faces of students eager to learn all about the programmes offered at the university. It was a large event that would last the entire day for two batches of some 375 students and 10 teachers.

The earliest on the agenda was a tour of the campus while being provided with information about what the University could offer at the same time. This served to enhance their interest and understanding towards the campus, as they saw for themselves what each programme had to offer. Clearly, the students were impressed with the facilities on campus, and this visibly motivated potential new students eager to be part of the coming September intake.

This was demonstrated through the high enquiries received on scholarships, particularly with a strong response to the Multimedia and Architecture faculties. Many students were pleasantly taken aback with the philosophy of the university and truly felt that it could instill in them a sense of creativity. The wide range of courses and programmes offered truly gave many students insight into how fulfilling college life could be with Limkokwing.

As part of its holistic approach, the Marketing staff of Limkokwing kicked off with telemarketing and email campaigns to inform the students about the programmes on offer. From the response, this would allow planning for any follow-up workshops for potential students, aimed at introducing the innovative campus to them.

The tour was capped off with each student given a copy of the Limkokwing Cambodia brochure, further promoting the unique brand of Limkokwing. Posters will also be sent to the school to remind them of Limkokwing’s presence in the country. The brochures served very well and were appreciated by the students, many of whom said they would definitely return for more.

Much of the credit for the successful event goes to the strong team performance displayed by Limkokwing. Crucial to the event was the university ambassador, who charmed the students with pleasant looks and a constant readiness to talk. The team was responsive to student inquiries, ready with accurate knowledge and confident presentation – this certainly helped students to warm up to the team and made them very comfortable during the tour. To complete the team, Limkokwing agent, Mr Sarana, was a vital player, having invited the school to the campus.

Certainly helping to create the ambience and giving the students a feel of the Limkokwing environment was the complete amenities and facilities provided to them. From the transportation of the chartered bus which brought them to the campus, to the mineral water for refreshments, and finally the Limkokwing Cambodia brochure to ensure that the students brought home something useful for their future, Limkokwing covered all the bases and this was well appreciated by the students.

The event showed that school bridging is a promising platform for obtaining students for recruitment purposes in the long term. The tour answered many of the students’ main concerns on financial ability and scholarships, and offered glimpses into their future. With the school assistant director giving full backing for his students to study at Limkokwing, and with the smiles and promises to return from the students themselves, there was little doubt that the event was a huge accomplishment.
