Limkokwing University of Creative Technology empowers students to face challenges of the new millennium through the revolutionary cross-border learning called “Global Classroom”.

Students who completed a one-semester stay at the university’s London campus, which is part of the Global Classroom initiative, speak of “broadening horizons and transforming mindsets”.

The concept, actualised by the Limkokwing, gives students an opportunity to complete a minimum of one semester on the London campus.

This will lead to the award of two degrees – one by Limkokwing and the other by its United Kingdom university partner.

A stint at the London campus gives students a meaningful experience as they get a global perspective towards resolving issues and problems.

This is in line with the university’s vision and mission to produce and equip graduates with a global worldview, and an open perspective towards problem-solving.

These are the traits employers look for in graduates as emphasised by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi when he opened the London campus.

“I am excited at the merging of the best and brightest from the East and West. It is my hope that such an exchange will produce a burst of creativity and innovation that will illuminate our future.

“I also hope that this cross-pollination will give rise to greater understanding and empathy between cultures and civilizations – qualities that are sorely needed in today’s world,” says Abdullah.

Anglia Ruskin University vice-chancellor Professor Dr Michael Thorne describes the Global Classroom as “innovative”.

“We cannot but admire the inventiveness and sheer audacity of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology in taking an idea that many have dreamt about and turning it into an affordable reality for many across the world.

Former Global Classroom students have nothing but praise for the experience.

“One semester in Limkokwing London and already my mind is literally working overtime with ideas. I mean extraordinary ideas and concepts,” says creative multimedia student Tan Choon Xuan.

“The London campus is located in vibrant Piccadilly. It is the world of culture, fine arts and music. I consider myself fortunate to have spent a semester at Limkokwing London.

“It’s a life-changing experience and I will certainly encourage my friends to take advantage of this exciting programme.”

Tan’s views are echoed by Shannon Oh Chih Siang.

“I have become more open-minded and I am now very independent and confident of handling challenges on my own.

“Studying in London was truly a whole new learning experience and has imbued in me a valuable lesson that nothing is impossible.” Aaron Wong Kher Wei thanked the university for introducing the programme.

“I am now eager to go out and achieve my dream of making sure my skills are one up from the rest.”

The London programme has yielded positive results, notably in developing confidence and ability of students to think on their feet and carry out assignments independently.

The unique and lasting learning experience is capable of transforming the way one think, react, solve, and handle problems.

The interaction with 450 campus mates from more than 30 countries, plus the London population, is expected to broaden one’s horizons and mindset.

This is in addition to being guided by experienced and competent lecturers and tutors.

The London campus provides easy access to a large concentration of museums, libraries and art museums, all within easy reach.

It also serves as the base for research in business, design, fine arts, architecture, tourism and multimedia.

Limkokwing’s London campus offers a selection of degree studies for students who prefer to complete their entire degree programme in the British capital.
