Limkokwing London collaborates with International Council for Coach Education for 2012 Olympics

In conjunction with the 2012 Olympic Games to be held in London this year, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Council for Coach Education (ICCE) to work together during the world’s foremost sporting event.

Limkokwing University will be working with the ICCE, a not-for-profit, international organisation with the mission of promoting coaching as an internationally accepted profession, to establish the ‘Global Coaches House’ that will play a crucial role during the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in London.

The University’s London campus will be the platform for all launches and further dissemination of key initiatives in coaching such as the International Sport Coaching Framework; the Morrisons’ Coaching 4 Performance programme; International Coach Education Standards (ICES); Coach True (WADA); Olympic Solidarity Programmes and International Federation Coaching and Coach Education programmes.

Founder and President of Limkokwing University, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr Lim Kok Wing has also offered to have promotional materials designed by the University’s talented alumni. The University’s multimedia development unit based in Cyberjaya, Centre for Content Creation, will be heading the creative direction and production of coverage and marketing materials.

Over the years, Lim has contributed his time and effort on national youth and sports campaigns, including:

  • In 1994, established the Rakan Muda movement which was a strategic mission for young people devised to turn a national ‘problem’ into a national pool of human resource.
  • Produced the 1998 Commonwealth Games campaign song ‘Bersama Berpimpin Tangan’. The song and its English version, Let’s Join Hands, was officially launched by Youth and Sports Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on January 20, 1998
  • Designed the 1998 Commonwealth Games mascot, Wira. Work on the Games mascot started in 1994 when Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing and his design team created Wira and his winning ways
  • Designed three different uniforms for the National Service trainees that incorporate both creative and cultural features
  • Designed the new kit for the country’s sports teams, with a tracksuit and jersey that highlight the colours and stripes of the Malayan tiger in an effort to inspire athletes with the characteristics of the animal; the kit was launched by then-Deputy Prime minister, Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak in 2005
