Kuala Lumpur: The Limkokwing University of Creative Technology in London has raised the alarm among British institutions of higher learning.

In an article published by The Independent newspaper entitled “From Malaysia to Mayfair: The foreign university that is sending shiver in the higher education world”, the university’s presence was described as a “threat”.

In a statement, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing said the university does not see itself as a threat to British institutions but to complement an established fraternity of tertiary education.

“It is not the aim of the university to compete with British institutions of higher learning, we would just like to offer a unique brand of education.”

He hoped that being a Malaysian institution, Limkokwing’s presence would be viewed as a recognition to the British education system, as Malaysia still sends thousands of its students to obtain their degrees, master and doctorates in the United Kingdom.
