Limkokwing Fashion graduates were beaming with pride as their showcase drew massive attention. Hundreds of attendants, clutching their shopping bags and photography equipments, swarmed the stage as student designers sent their garments down the runway.
Titled Creativity in Motion, it was an ambitious project from the University to delegate 33 designers from 7 countries with more than 100 designs. The fashion show was unusual, as the models were not just walking but were also seen as dancing along to the music on the runway.
The Creativity in Motion is a collection of fashion ideas from the world’s next generation, influenced by elements of Asian culture including the Manipuri dance of Asia, the Irezumi of Japan, and the tribal painting of Sarawak.
Three awards were given to the designers who had shown admirable efforts, innovative design, and workmanship.
The recipients were Merlin Yuwita from Indonesia, Tan Cho Sian from Brunei and Andy Yap Hock King from Malaysia. Andy Yap won the stylo Young Designer’s award 2009.
