Asia’s leading innovative university and Maxis Berhad announced a new partnership for the integration of the fastest and most powerful iPhone into the daily curriculum of the university’s students.

Beginning February 2010, Limkokwing university courses of at least one year in duration will incorporate the iPhone 3GS, its powerful connective capabilities and its platform for limitless applications.

“Working with Limkokwing and its 30,000-strong community across three continents, ensures that the iPhone 3GS and its creative tools are harnessed by young minds exploring across boundaries, drawing them closer into the conversation between technology and all aspects of our daily living,” said Fitri Abdullah, Maxis’ Vice President and Head of Enterprise and Carrier Business.

Abdullah also said that the strategic alliance with Limkokwing is intended to help situate tertiary level students within this borderless new landscape, to explore the use of the growing mobile internet platform in the development of people and ideas for the future, and to promote the spirit of discovery and creativity at the stage of advanced yet formative inquiry.

Limkokwing, which is celebrating its 20-year anniversary this year, is one of the world’s most globalized universities, having a presence in more than 77 countries as well as students coming from 150 countries in the world.

A highly regarded voice in transformational creativity and innovation in the world, Limkokwing is already highly recognized across countries such as the United Kingdom, China, Cambodia, Indonesia, Botswana and Lesotho as a leader in innovation and the integration of online communications, equipping young people across the globe with world class qualifications in online communications, digital design, multimedia, sound design, mobile technology, games design, among others.

“We’re first today in Malaysia to implement this platform into the learning and training of our students as this partnership is crucial to the advancement of this country into the digital age of tomorrow,” said Dato’ Dr Jayles Yeoh, Limkokwing University Vice President of International Development.

Dr Yeoh further added that education remains at the core of a creative, innovative and techno-savvy human capital and by partnering with Maxis, there’s hope that many more will follow and lead to establish Malaysia at the forefront of the digital revolution.

The new partnership is already visible next to the Apple Centre in Limkokwing Plaza—a Maxis Centre with specially-trained service staff, offering throughout weekdays, on-site customer service and knowledge-sharing with university employees and students.

Maxis Partnership with Limkokwing University

Maxis is pleased to offer the smartphone to Limkokwing’s faculty, students and their parents at preferential partnership prices in support of Malaysian excellence in mobile higher education.

Maxis has bundled selected packages with free phone calls, MMSes and SMSes for increased value. For instance, staff and students who subscribe to the Value Plus 150 plan will enjoy up to 38 hours of free phone calls and 500 free SMSes to other staff and students who are also on tailored Maxis plans catering to the Limkokwing community.

The move is an opportunity for the two companies to be creators of Malaysian-Driven Content that will spearhead Malaysia’s push into becoming a more creative nation than before, answering the call of the Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak as well as government initiatives such as that of the Multimedia Development Corporation, which seeks for more Malaysian content developers in the cyber world and thus place Malaysia on the innovation map in the world.
